Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor has been put on a two week fitness program and is unavailable for selection during this period.
Agbonlahor and Villa alike have endured a nightmare campaign, with the club all but condemned to relegation from the Premier League.
Villa interim manager Eric Black confirmed the striker wouldn’t be considered during this process, claiming he is lacking match fitness.
“In terms of fitness levels, Gabby Agbonlahor is not fit for the Premier League at this moment in time,” claimed Black.
“He’ll work with the group, with the U21’s and fitness coaches and we’ll assess it in two weeks’ time.”
Villa need a win away at Manchester United on Saturday otherwise will be relegated and could still go down even if they do claim a famous win.
When pressed, Black admitted he is having to deal with the unusual situation where a Premier League player was deemed unfit so late in the season.
“Yes, that seems to be the case, I don’t know what went on before but we both felt his fitness needed to improve,” added Black.
