Cardiff City were formed in 1899 and were previously known as Riverside A.F.C, changing their name early on the 1900’s.
The club’s most dominant period was the 1920’s, where they narrowly missed out on the Division One title to Huddersfield Town in 1924, however won the F.A Cup for the first and only time three years later.
Last season Cardiff came second in the Championship, England’s second tier of football, to earn promotion to the Premier League. They have also won the Welsh Cup an incredible 22 times, including nine times in an 11 year period.
Cardiff are the only non-English side to win the F.A Cup following their 1927 success over Arsenal.
Their greatest run in Europe came in the European Cup Winners Cup were they made the semi-finals of the tournament in 1968. At the time they became the first non-top division club to go so far in the competition, since then the record has been equalled.
